The film won the Palme d'Or at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival and two other awards (the Cinema Prize of the French National Education System and the FIPRESCI award). In addition, she appeared in the film of Francis Ford Coppola Youth Without Youth. In 2008 she was the character Yasim Anwar in BBC series The Last Enemy. Marinca was a character in Yasim's story as part of Oliver Hirschbiegel's Five Minutes of Heaven, as well as in the Romanian Drama Boogie.
